Dear Readeo Friends,
In two of our books this week—aimed at slightly older readers—we learn the power of language, and how it can sometimes separate us from the ones we love.
In Don’t Say Ain’t by Irene Smalls, illustrated by Colin Boot, young Dana tests well and gets into a good school. But the pressure to speak proper English in class makes her feel separate from her family and friends at home. Carlos, the hero of Uncle Rain Cloud by Tony Johnston, illustrated by Fabricio VandenBroeck, discovers that his command of the English language separates him from Tío Tomás (the uncle of the title), who loves the language and legends of Mexico.
And our third book, for children expecting a new addition to their families, The Big Baby Book by Guido van Genechten celebrates all of nature’s newborns! You are likely already familiar with this author-artist, who also created Ricky Is Brave and No Ghost Under My Bed! in our Readeo Library.
We hope you’ll enjoy BookChatting with these new books this week on Readeo! Please let us know what you think of our new additions in the comments below or on our Facebook page. We love hearing from you!
With all my best,
Jenny

Hi…
How about some chapter books in the library…like Charlotte’s Web, Stuart Little, etc.
Phyllis
Thanks for the suggestion! Have you tried the Mercy Watson books? We’ll definitely work to add more of these!
